| Abstract | ||||
| Background. Retirement is a very important period in individuals' lives, involving psychological and financial facets as well as health and social relations, among others. Aim: to explore the effects of pre-retirement preparation programs on self-efficacy among employees. Methods: A quasi-experimental design (pre/post-tests) study was utilized. Conducted at Suez Canal University at Ismailia city, Egypt. Participants included employees who are close to retirement from 50 to 60 years old. A simple random sample was used to select study participants. Data was collected using a structured interview questionnaire consisting of three parts (1) socio-demographic and occupational data, (2) process of retirement planning scale, (3) and self-efficacy scale. Results: The current study stated that two thirds of the sample studied were administrative employees, more than half of employees were university education level, more than one third of the employees have more than 20 years' experience. Concerning their health status, more than half of employees had chronic illnesses. Also, shows that there is a statistical significance difference between levels of self-efficacy pre/post program (P<0.0001). Moreover, there is a positive correlation between retirements planning process pre/post program (P<0.0001). As well, shows that there is a positive correlation between levels of self-efficacy pre/post program (P<0.0001). Conclusion and Recommendation: the present study recommends organizing retirement preparation programs that cover a wide range of participants, not only the financial perspective but also psychological and social perspectives of retirement. | ||||
