| Abstract | ||||
| This research aims to design a training program using major taper to identify the effect of the program using major taper on some of the physical variables and technical performance level under investigation in junior saber fencers. The researcher used the experimental approach (one-group design) with pre- and post- measurements for all physical and technical variables. Research community included (24) junior saber fencers, representing fencers of Al-Omran Saudi Sports Club (less than 11 years) during the 2024-2025 season. (12) fencers were recruited for the main sample to undergo the major taper program, while another (12) fencers were recruited for the pilot sample. All participant volunteered to participate after permission given from the technical system of the team. The researcher verified data normality of the main sample in growth factors and physical and technical measurements. Results indicated that there are statistically significant differences after applying the calming program between the means of the pre- and post-measurements of the research sample on physical variables and the level of technical performance in favor of the post-measurement. Improvement percentage ranged from (7.132%) to (30.313%) in the physical variables (speed strength, speed, agility) respectively for junior fencers. The effect size of the taper program on the physical variables was high, as the effect size achieved values ranging from (1.127) to (3.648), which are high indications of the effect of taper on the physical requirements.
