FIXATION OF ISOLATED DISTAL ULNAR FRACTURES BY CONDYLAR MINI-PLATE. IS IT EFFICENT? Background: A fall onto an outstretched hand is the commonest mechanism of injury of distal ulna. A distal end ulna fracture may be complicated by wrist joint stiffness, ligament damage restricting wrist mobility, post-traumatic arthritis. This study aims to assess the efficiency of fixation of distal ulnar fractures using a condylar mini-plate. Patients and methods: This prospective study included 23 patients presented with unstable fractures of the distal ulna from January 2022 to February 2024. All patients were treated by condylar mini-plate. Evaluation of the clinical and radiological results using the Modified Mayo Wrist scoring system after at least a 6-month follow-up period. Results: At the end of follow up period. 4.35% of the participants complained from fracture non-union (1 patient), while 95.65% achieved full union (22 individuals). According to the functional Modified Mayo Wrist scoring system, 26.09% were fair (6 individuals), 30.43% were good (7 individuals), and 39.13% were excellent (9 individuals). Conclusion: Mini condylar plates are highly efficient when used for the fixation of distal ulnar fractures for several reasons. Condylar mini plates with their design, intrinsic compatibility and improved biomechanical stability, serve as an ideal option in distal ulnar fractures. Keywords: Condylar mini-plate, distal ulna fracture, wrist joint stiffness. | ||||
