Abstract | ||||
A higher education institution (HEI) is an important factor for sustainable development. An HEI helps future generations to meet their needs. HEIs, also, help in fostering critical thinking skills, which will allow them to make a positive impact on the society. Despite being of a great value, there is a paucity of research which examines the contribution of HEIs towards sustainable development. This paper investigates the role of organizational culture in leading sustainable change in higher education institutions, by reporting a qualitative approach using bibliometric analysis and content analysis for 20 universities. Specific information from selected websites was reviewed to detect sustainability themes in the broad university management and operations (i.e., in general policies, corporate mission statements, research activities, positions available and strategies). Therefore, this review paper investigates how organizational culture influences the implementation of sustainability practices at higher educational institutions. | ||||
