Abstract | ||||
Wheat yellow rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici) is one of the most threatens wheat diseases worldwide. It has severe impact on wheat cultivars where they varied in their response due to behavior of fungal races, climatic conditions, and infection time. Hundred twenty-two wheat genotypes were evaluated to determine their effectiveness to yellow rust races that were isolated and identified by using molecular markers. Results showed that two Egyptian wheat cultivars (Misr3 and Misr4)and eighteen wheat lines derived from CIMMYT i.e. (TATARA, Yr5, Yr8, Yr15, Yr17, OPATA/PASTOR CO5607 A020, OPATA/PASTOR CO5607 A047, CHUAN NONG 19, IRAGI, Yr37, Yr51, Yr57, YrKK, Yr27, YrSp, OPATA M 85, SUPER KAUZ and CWI89450) were resistant to stripe rust during 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 growing seasons and these lines can be used in the breeding program for releasing new resistant cultivars. The yellow rust races were identified using single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) markers and the phylogenetic analysis was conducted with the representative strains of fungi contained in genomic database bank. The results of the present investigation regarding the pathological characteristics and analysis of gene sequence strongly suggest that the isolated pathotypes of the yellow rust are new strains, which deposited in NCBI GenBank database under the accession numbers (PQ505589, PQ505590, PQ505591, PQ505592, and PQ505593). | ||||
