Abstract | ||||
Abstract Background: Iron deficiency anemia is a significant concern among primary school students .it can adversely affect their growth, development, and academic performance. Aim: This study aims to assess knowledge ad practices of primary school students regarding iron deficiency anemia. Study design: A descriptive study was applied to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: This study was conducted at two mixed primary schools selected randomly in Beni Suef City. Sample: A Multi-stage random sample technique of 210 students was used to select the sample. The tool: one tool used for collecting data consists of three parts 1.Students and their parent's demographic data 2. Students’ knowledge regarding iron deficiency anemia 3. Students reported practice regarding the prevention of iron deficiency anemia. Results: more than two-thirds of the studied primary school students had a poor level of total knowledge regarding iron deficiency anemia. While less than two-thirds of the studied primary school students had unsatisfactory levels of total reported practices regarding the prevention of iron deficiency anemia. Conclusion: there was a highly statistically significant relation between the total knowledge of the studied primary school students and their mother's education, father's education, and family income at (P= < 0.01). there was a highly statistically significant relation between the total reported practices of the studied primary school students and their mother's education, father's education, and family income at (P= < 0.01). Recommendations: Health education program for primary school students regarding iron deficiency anemia. | ||||
