Background: Catheter associated Urinary tract infection is the most prevalent type of hospital-acquired infection, often occurring as a complication in patients with urinary catheter or within 48 hours after catheter removal. This condition significantly contributes to higher rates of morbidity and mortality. Aim: This study aimed to assess nurses' performance regarding bundle of care for catheter associated urinary tract infection. Research design: A descriptive design was utilized for conducting the study. Setting: The study was carried out in General Intensive Care Unit at Beni-Suef University Hospital. Subjects: Convenience sample of all available nurses were included in the study. Data Collection Tools: I -Nurses' knowledge Questionnaire, it included nurses’ demographic characteristics and nurses’ knowledge, II - CAUTI Bundle Observation Checklist. Results: The mean total knowledge score was 20.06±2.98 out of 26, with (52%) of studied nurses had a satisfactory level regarding their total of knowledge. In relation to practice, the mean total knowledge score was 21.94±3.54 out of 30, with (60%) of nurses had a moderate level of practice. There was a positive significant statistical correlation between studied nurses’ knowledge and their practice. Conclusion: Approximately half of the studied nurses had a satisfactory knowledge and more than half of the studied nurses had a moderate level of practice regarding catheter associated urinary tract infection bundle bundle. Recommendations: Educational and in-service training programs should be designed and implemented to enhance ICU nurses' knowledge and practice regarding catheter associated urinary tract infection bundle. | ||||
