| Abstract | ||||
| The feed in poultry farming accounts for about 70% of the total production cost. This is mainly due to the continuous increase in the price of dietary ingredients. Enzymes are considered one of the innovative solutions that can be used to reduce poultry diet costs. Moreover, poultry naturally produces enzymes to aid the digestion of dietary nutrients. However, they do not have enzymes to break down fiber completely and need exogenous enzymes in diets to improve digestion. Enzymes are biological catalysts composed of protein and bring about biochemical reactions without themselves undergoing any change. Enzymes play a vital role in improving nutrient utilization, enhancing growth performance, reducing feed costs, and supporting better environmental sustainability in poultry production. The use of enzymes in poultry nutrition is a growing area, as producers increasingly look for ways to improve efficiency and sustainability in the poultry industry. This review provides information on the commonly used enzymes in poultry nutrition, especially fiber-digesting enzymes, proteases, phytases, and amylases. | ||||
