Abstract | ||||
This paper presents an Experimental investigation of the axisymmetric wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) process. This technique was studied due to its effectivity to machine hard-to-cut materials. The experiment was conducted using a CNC WEDM, and an attached spindle to generate rotational motion to the workpiece (wp) to simulate the turning process. The experiment was carried out to study the influence of changing machining parameters (Rotational speed (ωwp), pulse-on time (Ton), and current (I)) on material removal rate (MRR). The wp material is chosen to be AISI M42 high speed steel (HSS), for its importance in different industries as dies, molds, and other machining tools. The experiment was designed using Minitab software using Taguchi model L9(3x3), and analysis in performed through analysis of variance (ANOVA) and regression analysis, were used to study the parameter with the most significant influence on MRR, which has been the current with a P-value of 1.5%. | ||||
