Abstract | ||||
Background: Ultrasound parameters such as fetal heart rate, diameter of gestational sac, length of crown rump are the criteria determined to assess early pregnancy. Aim: To evaluate the predictive role of Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125), fetal heart rate and gestational sac diameters for the outcome of the pregnancy. Patients and methods: This group research has been performed at Benha University Hospitals and El-Monira General Hospital after obtaining approach of their related Ethics committees. This research has been performed on 70 pregnant women at 6-13 weeks of gestation. Results: There was statistically insignificant distinction found among the control group and the patient group regarding the first visit Mean Sac Diameter (MSD), Crown-Rump Length (CRL), and Fetal Heart Rate (FHR), with p-values of 0.710, 0.416, 0.229, and 0.086. However, there was a statistically significant negative assosiation found among (CA125) levels and Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) in the studied patients. Conclusion: CA125 can be used as a good, cheap, available and non-invasive predictor for occurrence of pregnancy loss at a cutoff value > 33 iu\ml with AUC, sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, +PV, -PV of 0.871, 80.0, 84.62, 5.2, 0.24, 54.5, 94.8 respectively. Also first trimester ultrasound parameters can be used as a predictor for occurrence of pregnancy loss which is available, easy to apply, cheap and non-invasive. | ||||
