Abstract | ||||
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of seed treatments (Neem oil 10 ml/kg, Mustard oil 10 ml/kg, Phosphine tablets 0.0125 g/kg) on three varieties of bread wheat grains (Giza 171, Giza 168 and Gimmaza 11) at four storage periods (Fresh grains, 3, 6, and 9 months). The experimental design was a completely randomized design with three replicates. The experiment was performed during the period from Jun 2022 until March 2023. The results demonstrated that all studied traits were significantly impacted by the assessed storage times. Consequently, the highest mean values of seed index, germination power (%), germination percentage (%), shoot and roots length (cm), and seedling dry weight (g) traits were recorded at the begging of storage then a gradual decrease occurred. In addition, treating wheat grains with phosphine resulted in a significant increase in seed index, germination power (%) and germination percentage (%) traits compared to the control (without fumigation), while significant increases in roots length (cm), shoot length (cm) and seedling dry weight (g) were accompanied with treating wheat grains by neem oil compared to the control. Giza 171 Varity surpassed the others in all above traits. | ||||
