Abstract | ||||
Background: To evaluate the impact of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FEES) on the development of facial structures in children diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis as they transition into adulthood. Patient and methods: This study was a prospective cohort outcome analysis involving age- matched participants, conducted at Benha University Hospital from September 2021 to December 2024. Manual measurements of these parameters were taken every six months throughout the follow-up period until the conclusion of the study. Results: Nineteen patients dropped from follow up of the studying. The rest were 32male and 20 female who continued the follow up of the study till the ending, their mean age was 9.32 years at the beginning of the study before operative intervention and 16.26 years at the at the end of our observation. Thirty-nine children who performed FESS surgery (Group A) and 13 children who did not perform FESS surgery (Group B). Conclusions: The findings from both the quantitative and qualitative analyses revealed that there was no statistically significant difference in facial growth between children who underwent FES surgery and those who did not receive the treatment. | ||||
