Abstract | ||||
Background: Laparoscopic appendectomy became the standard surgical technique for acute appendicitis Aim: To assess the medical outcomes of laparoscopic appendicectomy using 2 popular stump closure methods - ENDOLOOP® and Hem-o-lok®. Patients and methods: A one-year prospective hospital-based cohort research at the general surgery department of Aswan University hospitals conducted on 60 patients from May 2023 to April 2024, Random assignment will be used to allocate all study participants to 1 of the 2 experimental arms (ENDOLOOP® & Hem-o-lok®). These studied cases' clinical & follow-up data would be gathered, collated into a data sheet, & examined. Results: There had been no statistically significant difference among the studied cases as regard Complications. There had been no statistically significant difference among the studied cases as regard any events during follow-up. Conclusion: Although there were no statistically significant differences among two groups in terms of demographic data, clinical presentation, preoperative labs, pathology, length of stay, return to work, and events during follow-up while there were statistically significant differences in comorbidities, drain usage, and complications we concluded that hem-o-lok ligation appear to be at least as effective as endoloop ligation in terms of operating time. | ||||
