| Abstract | ||||
| يتناول هذا الموضوع دراسة تاريخ جزيرة هرمز ومكانتها التجارية في منطقة الخليج العربي، مع التركيز على صلاتها التجارية مع السواحل الهندية خلال القرن السابع الهجري الثالث عشر الميلادي. ولقد أبرز البحث الدور المحوري الذي لعبته هرمز في التحكم بطرق التجارة البحرية، وذلك بفضل موقعها الاستراتيجي وطموح سلطانها ركن الدين محمود بن أحمد القلهاتي (640- 671هـ/ 1242- 1273م) الذي عزز نفوذ الجزيرة في المنطقة. كما تطرقت الدراسة إلى الصراع بين حكام جزيرتي هرمز وكيش على السيطرة على طرق التجارة، وأظهرت أهمية جزيرة آوال (البحرين) كمحور اقتصادي وثقافي رئيسي بفضل مواردها التجارية، مثل مغاصات اللؤلؤ. كما استعرض البحث الاتفاقيات والتحالفات التي أثرت في ميزان القوى التجارية، وصولاً إلى سيطرة محمود القلهاتي على جزيرتي كيش وآوال، مما جعله يتحكم بشكل كامل في الطرق التجارية الممتدة من الهند إلى العراق. وتبرز أهمية الدراسة في تسليطها الضوء على العلاقة بين الحكام والتجار في المنطقة، وتأثير هذه العلاقات على الاستقرار الاقتصادي والثقافي. كما ركزت على أهمية دراسة النقوش الأثرية المتبقية على السواحل الهندية لفهم حركة التجارة، مما يفتح مجالاً واسعاً لمزيد من الدراسات حول التراث المادي ودوره في الكشف عن تاريخ التفاعل التجاري والثقافي بين الخليج وشبه القارة الهندية. This paper explores the history of Hormuz Island and its prominent commercial role within the Arabian Gulf region, with a particular focus on its trade relations with the Indian coasts during the 7th century AH / 13th century CE. The study underscores the central role Hormuz played in controlling maritime trade routes, leveraging its strategic location and the ambitions of its ruler, Rukn al-Din Mahmud ibn Ahmad al-Qalhati (640–671AH/1242–1273CE), who strengthened the island’s influence across the region. The research addresses the rivalry between the rulers of Hormuz and Qays Islands over dominance of trade routes and highlights the significance of Awal Island (Bahrain) as a pivotal economic and cultural hub, particularly due to its commercial resources such as pearl diving. The paper also examines treaties and alliances that shaped the balance of commercial power, culminating in al-Qalhati’s consolidation of control over both Qays and Awal Islands, thereby achieving full command over trade routes extending from India to Iraq. The importance of this study lies in shedding light on the dynamic relationship between rulers and merchants in the region and how these interactions influenced economic and cultural stability. It also emphasizes the value of studying surviving archaeological inscriptions along the Indian coasts to gain deeper insights into trade activities, opening new avenues for further research on material heritage and its role in uncovering the history of commercial and cultural exchanges between the Gulf and the Indian subcontinent. | ||||
