Abstract | ||||
Studies on boron as wood preservative against certain wood borers were carried out through three methods of application. Boron was applied against Lyctus africanus, and Sinoxylon sudanicum, through brushing, vacuum-impregnation and dipping techniques. Obtained results revealed that vacuum-impregnation of seasoned wood by 4% of boric acid equivalent (BAE) or 117 ppm of borone element is the most effective technique against wood borers. The recommended concentration gave 100% mortality for new infestation and over 3 years of protection. | ||||
