Abstract | ||||
Standardized authority control tools, such as Resource Description and Access (RDA), the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI), and the Virtual International Authority File (VIAF), are essential for improving bibliographic data organization. Many international projects utilize these standards to enhance digital entity linking, including WorldCat Entities (managed by OCLC) and ORCID, which ensures precise identification of researchers' names. This study explores the effectiveness of international authority control tools in standardizing Arabic personal names in the digital environment, focusing on ISNI and VIAF due to their broad adoption and continuous development. It also highlights the role of digital projects in improving name authority control. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the study examined 300 Arabic authority records from the American University Library's authority file, with a 95% confidence level based on RDA guidelines. Findings show that ISNI, in particular, provides high-quality authority control for Arabic names. The study reveals the relationship between ISNI and VIAF in supporting Arabic name standardization, facilitating their integration into information institutions such as libraries, museums, and archives. Furthermore, the research underscores the role of global standardization projects in enhancing digital entity management. | ||||
