Abstract | ||||
Very little is known about the level of organochlorine contamination in the Arabian Gulf around Qatar. Six species of common fish in Qatar were chosen in 1987 and were analyzed for oraganochlorine pesticide residues. The results obtained by gas chromatography and confirmed by thin layer chromatographic techniques revealed low levels of organochlorine in fish samples. Pesticide contaminants found most frequently were Lindane (Y- HCH), p,p - DDE, and p,p-DDT. | ||||
