| Abstract | ||||
| الصراع بين الشرق والغرب من القضايا الفكرية الكبرى التي يتعرض لها المثقف العربي في كل ميادين البحث والنظر، فمنذ العصور الوسطى ولم تهدأ وتيرة هذا الصراع، بين مد يصل إلى حد الصدام العسكري على نحو ما كان في الحروب الصليبية، وجذر حين يكون الصراع أقرب إلى معارك الفكر والنضال على نحو ما كان مع منتصف القرن التاسع عشر حتى الآن.ولعل موجات الصراع عاودت اشتدادها مع مطالع الألفية الجديدة حيث أفاقت الأمة العربية الإسلامية لتجد نفسها تقف على حافة الهاوية، مترددة بين تاريخ حضاري لم يعد في إمكانه استعادة شمسه التي أفلت، وحضارة أخرى متغلبة بقوتها وإمكانياتها المادية التي تمنحها قدرة وتفوقا يعجز في وضعه الراهن والموسوم بالضعف والتخاذل عن منافستها. من هنا بدأ العالم العربي يتلمس الطريق للخلاص وبخاصة مع بدايات القرن العشرين، باحثا عن وسائل تقيله من عثرته، وتفتح له سبل النهوض والتقدم، وبدأ طريقه بطرح السؤال الذي تتمحور حوله الأزمة، إنه سؤال تتطلبه المرحلة التاريخية الواهية التي نمر بها، وتضاعف من قيمته وأهميته، هذا السؤال هو: من نحن وماذا نريد ؟. لهذا كله كانت هذه الوقفة مع تجلي من تجليات هذا الصراع على نحو ما تبديه أقلام المبدعين العرب، وبخاصة في فن الرواية، حيث اخترنا الوقوف على طبيعة هذا الصراع عبر رواية (عصفور من الشرق) للأديب الكبير توفيق الحكيم، ورواية (قنديل أم هاشم) للروائي الكبير يحيى حقي. The conflict between the East and the West is one of the major intellectual issues faced by the Arab intellectual in all fields of research and contemplation. Since the Middle Ages, the pace of this conflict has not eased, oscillating between periods that reach the point of military confrontation, as seen in the Crusades, and those where the conflict is more akin to battles of thought and struggle, as has been the case from the mid-19th century until now.Perhaps the waves of conflict intensified again with the dawn of the new millennium, as the Arab Islamic nation awakened to find itself on the brink of the abyss, hesitating between a civilizational history that can no longer regain its setting sun, and another civilization that prevails with its strength and material capabilities, which provide it with power and superiority that is impossible to compete with in its current state, marked by weakness and reluctance. From here, the Arab world began to feel its way towards salvation, especially at the beginning of the twentieth century, seeking means to lift itself from its predicament, opening up paths for revival and progress. Its journey began by posing the question that revolves around the crisis; a question necessitated by the feeble historical phase we are passing through, and its value and importance are magnified. This question is: Who are we and what do we want?For all of this, this pause has been taken with a manifestation of this conflict as expressed by the pens of Arab creators, especially in the art of the novel, where we chose to reflect on the nature of this conflict through the novel 'A Bird from the East' by the great writer Tawfiq al-Hakim, and the novel 'The Lantern of Umm Hashim' by the great novelist Yahya Haqqi. | ||||
