Abstract | ||||
Assistive technology (AT) is a broad term that encompasses systems/services and products that assist humans. Speech recognition software (Siri/Alexa) One of its forms. With increasing complexity and rapid technological development, humans became Centered Design. This aligns with industrial design philosophy of creating products that help humans perform their daily activities, extending their psychological and physiological capabilities safely and easily. This aligns with the concept of (AT), a general term that refers to human Artifacts provided by industrial designers in various forms designed to assist humans in performing concerned tasks until it came to be regarded in contemporary thought as (AT),which explains the research hypothesis. Appearance of new concepts clarifies capabilities and technologies of this era, there came a need to clarify AT’s relationship with industrial design and global social sustainability. It proposes a conceptual framework integrating AT as comprehensive outputs of industrial design, redefining the designer’s role in promoting accessibility and equity. Not just creating physical products but building knowledge-based technology helps humans. The importance of research appears in clarifying this role of creating technology that links the physical, intellectual and cultural aspects, helping people as a trait for this era. Research methodology is inductive and descriptive/analytical case study. Therefore, research results: Proof of the congruence of the concept of (AT) with the role of industrial designer in assisting humans, and the comprehensiveness of the concept to the outputs of the contemporary field of industrial design. IT recommendations, the importance of enhancing cooperation between fields to build knowledge databases. | ||||
