Abstract | ||||
Background Metabolic(dysfunction) associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD ) is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD),since systemic metabolic dysfunction underlies its pathogenesis ,The term metabolic(dysfunction) associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD)has been proposed for this condition . MAFLD is closely interwined with obesity ,type 2 DM and atherogenic dyslipidemia ,which are established cardiovascular risk factors . Aim of the study: We aimed to evaluate early cardiac involvement in patients with MAFLD. Methods and results: An observational cross-sectional study included 103 patients with MAFLD who were not known to have CVD and attended the outpatient clinic of the Tropical Medicine Department at Minia University Hospital. All patients underwent medical history, clinical examination, anthropometric measurements, laboratory investigations, abdominal ultrasonography, and Echocardiography, regarding cardiac examination in ECG 99% of patients had sinus and by ECHO 30.1% of cases had valvular lesions in the form of mitral regurge and diastolic dysfunction 20.4% of cases was in grade 1. Conclusions: MAFLD is associated with diastolic dysfunction. | ||||
