| Abstract | ||||
| Background: CABG is a major treatment option for coronary artery disease, a crucial element of a successful coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedure is that educating the patients both before and after the procedure enhances their quality of life and sense of self-efficacy. Aim: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention program on self-efficacy and quality of life among patients undergoing CABG. Research design: For achieving the study's objective, a pre-posttest and quasi-experimental research design was used. Subjects: 60 patients undergoing CABG surgeries as a purposeful sample. Setting: This study was carried out at Zagazig University Hospital's Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Data collection Tools: Structured Interview Questionnaire for patients, Cardiac self-efficacy scale (CSE), Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale (ESES), and Rand 36 short form quality of life questionnaire. Results: 58.3% of the studied patients at age ranged from 50-60 years old with Mean± SD 51.87±7.84. Following intervention, the majority of the patients in the study showed an increase in their level of satisfying knowledge. Also, there was a highly statistically significant increase in the overall mean scores of cardiac and exercise self-efficacy for patients undergoing CABG, also there were a highly significant in the mean QOL scores among studied patients across all subcategories. Conclusion: it can be concluded that comprehensive nursing intervention may effectively increase patients' knowledge, which in ultimately improves their quality of life and health-related self-efficacy in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting. Recommendations: Future studies are necessary to create and improve treatment options that will enhance patients' self-efficacy and quality of life, moreover, stop further deterioration. | ||||
