| Abstract | ||||
| This research focuses on investigating the potential impact of career competencies of tourism agencies’ employees on career development levels in these agencies. The current research also seeks to test the moderating role of gamification strategy in the nexus between career competencies and career development dimensions (i.e., willingness to participate in development, actual development behavior, and management support for development). A quantitative approach based on an online questionnaire was employed to collect data from 498 employees in tourism agencies in Greater Cairo. Structural equation modeling was run to test direct and moderating hypotheses. Results indicated that career competencies had a positive and significant impact on career development of tourism agencies. More specifically, career competencies possessed by these agencies’ employees had a greater impact on actual development behavior than on willingness to participate in development and senior management support for career development. Moreover, results proved that gamification strategy is considered a fundamental motivator in the nexus between career competencies and career development dimensions, as this strategy implementation helped strengthen the nexus between career competencies possessed by these agencies’ employees and willingness to participate in development more than its supporting effect on the nexus between these competencies and development behavior and senior management support for development. Accordingly, findings recommend that that tourism companies systematically adopt a gamification strategy within their training and professional development programs, in addition to supporting an interactive and stimulating work environment that contributes to raising the level of readiness and participation in professional development efforts. | ||||
