Abstract | ||||
ABSTRACT This article presents a summary of the significant discoveries made by Yarmouk University at Tell Al-Assara in northern Jordan during the summer of 2023. The excavation efforts conducted by the university’s Archaeology Department have provided valuable insights into the profiles of fortified settlements in northern Jordan during the Iron Age. The article highlights the outcomes of these excavations, including preliminary ceramic analyses and documentation of architectural features, particularly the exposed walls. These findings contribute to our understanding of human settlement patterns in northern Jordan during Bronze and Iron Ages. Tell Al-Assara holds considerable promise for future research. However, despite its growing interest among archaeologists, the site, like many others in the region, has increasingly been targeted by looters. Illegal excavations and the ongoing threat of looting continue to pose significant risks to the preservation of archaeological heritage. One of the central research objectives was to investigate the occupations of the Bronze and Iron Ages at the site. | ||||
