Abstract | ||||
Background: Domestic violence, or DV, has remained a global, social, public health, and human rights issue that affects victims on a social, economic, psychological, and physical level. It can be described as "trying to injure someone or making a family member or household member fear impending bodily harm by threatening to use force." Most people in our communities choose not to report these acts of violence to the police, but others have begun to do so in order to obtain their rights. The current study sought to determine the prevalence of domestic violence-related injuries in cases referred to and evaluated in the clinical toxicology and forensic medicine departments between January 2023 and June 2024 Results: 60 case presented to our department of forensic medicine & clinical toxicology, Cairo University to get examined after exposure to domestic physical violence; 54 cases were females and 3 males. 40 cases aged from 18 -45 years old, 10 cases were less than 18 years and 10 cases were more than 45 years, most of cases were attacked and get physically abused by their husbands (36 case) Conclusion: physical violence against women & children is a persistent problem specially from their care giver or spouse but fortunately we touched the increasing awareness from females by their trial to seek reporting and documentation of the violence they met | ||||
