Abstract | ||||
Background: Both ABO and Rh blood group systems was correlated with a number of illnesses. Aim: To estimate the occurrence of various types of leukemia with the ABO blood groups and Rh factor. The response of treatment relationship with ABO blood groups. Patients and methods: This was a retrospective cohort study including A total of 200 cases diagnosed with leukemias according to the International Working Group (IWG) diagnostic criteria attending the hematology department of Harmel army hospital. Results: 179 of 200 leukemic patients had acute leukemia (89.5%) and 31 (9.5%) patients had chronic leukemia,112 (62.6%) of acute leukemic patients were diagnosed with AML, while ALL represents 67 (37.4). The study reveals that in groups A+ ve AML patients, non-responding patients are more likely to be females, while in groups B+ ve AML patients, responding patients are more likely to be males. In groups O+ ve AML patients, non-responding patients are more likely to be males, while in group O-ve AML patients, non-responding patients are more likely to be males. males are more likely to respond to treatment in groups A+ ve All pt, B+ ve ALL pt, AB+ve ALL pt, and O+ve ALL pt, with no patients detected with blood groups AB-ve and O-ve. The response rate was higher in males than females. Conclusion: Acute leukemia, particularly AML, is prevalent in adults, and ABO and RH can be used to predict leukemia types and treatment response. | ||||
