Abstract | ||||
This study reveals the importance of Al-Shawam gallery, one of the scientific galleries attached to Al-Azhar mosque, which was found in the Mamluk era. The study showed the architecture of the gallery, and the Archaeologists' description of it. The study also showed the origins and evolution of the gallery historically as a place to accommodate foreign students coming to Egypt to receive the sciences in Al-Azhar mosque. The gallery was created by Sultan Al-Ashraf Qaitbay. The study showed that the most important administrative, financial, religious and educational functions found in the gallery: Sheikh gallery, captain gallery, Jabi and other functions. The study indicated the nature of the education system used in Al Shawam gallery and the most prominent curriculum and most of the forensic sciences in which it was taught. It showed the outputs of education and regulations in the gallery, and it revealed scientific models of students, sheikhs and scholars who graduated and studied in the Shawam gallery. | ||||
