Abstract | ||||
This study deals with the analysis of the Overlap of Genres in the book (Dove’s Ring): (Ṭawq al-ḥamāma fī l-ulfa wa-l-ullāf) by Ibn Ḥazm al-Andalusī. The study follows a structural stylistic approach to literary text based on structural analysis and identification of the links between those structures within the framework of changing the borders between other literary genres. This is a critical judgment that requires critical awareness to carefully read literary texts in their different forms and levels of meaning. Through structural analysis of the book and contextual evidence within it, the study concluded that the (Dove’s Ring): (Ṭawq al-ḥamāma fī l-ulfa wa-l-ullāf) was accessible to literary genres, revealing the mentality of the Andalusian person who seeks excellence in his literary work. The study also concluded that this book could also be classified as the genre of Brotherhood Messages since the speech was delivered spontaneously. The book can also be a scientific educational message through presenting the issue of love in a logical, scientific, and sequential manner, and relating it to the transmission and mental sciences. Moreover, it is not possible to make an absolute ruling on classifying the book as an Ibn Hazm's autobiography based on apparent and implicit references in which the autobiographical features. | ||||
