| Abstract | ||||
| The study of rain characteristics is of great importance in the planning of land roads, as it helps to accurately design roads, determine how rainwater is drained, and places to build bridges, and thus can protect roads from exposure to erosion or landslides when heavy rains fall. Rain is one of the climatic factors that cause traffic accidents on the highways in Egypt, as it reduces the visibility of the driver and road users, as well as causing rain and mixing of water on the road with sand and dirt to form mud, which helps cars slip and deviate from the road. Water also destroys the material that has been paved by dissolving the road, and this leads to the disintegration of its particles, and thus the craters appear, which quickly expand with the continued rain and collision of cars, causing damage to vehicles and their overturning. The floods leads to the destruction of roads and the destruction of cars that encounter the flood flow. This research aims to study the effect of rain on highways in Egypt, and study floods and their dangers on highways . As well as analyzing the relationship between the amount of rain and the number of accidents in the study area . | ||||
