| The topic of the research deals with the trade of the most prominent strategic commodities such as iron, wood and weapons, and the extent of its impact on national security during the era of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi (569-588 AH / 1173-1192 AD), which the Ayyubid state during the era of Saladin was in dire need of; To achieve its national security, it was indispensable for building the fleet and arming the army, so that it could confront the Crusader invasion of the Islamic lands in the East, especially in the Levant.The study also deals with Saladin's policy in providing these strategic commodities through carrying out some internal economic reforms, and concluding commercial treaties with Italian commercial cities (Genoa - Pisa - Venice), which had common commercial relations and interests with Salahuddin.The study will shed light on the challenges and difficulties that Salah al-Din faced in trying to provide strategic commodities such as iron, wood and weapons, which were represented in the decisions of the papal ban on the trade of these goods with Salah al-Din. The Italian commercial cities (Genoa - Pisa - Venice) from the decisions of the papal ban on trading strategic goods with Salah al-Din, and the extent of success or failure of the policy of the papal ban in achieving its goal, which is the threat to the national security of the Ayyubid state from controlling European exports to the Ayyubids during the era of Salah Debt; To put an end to his expansions at the expense of the Crusader presence in the Levant, weaken his military strength and strike the economy of the Ayyubid state. | ||||
