| Abstract | ||
| Purpose: was to evaluate the effect of two different denture base materials on supporting structures in implant-supported mandibular partial over denture. Materials and methods: Fourteen class I partially edentulous patients were selected with age ranging from 40-50 years. Each patient received two implants with ball and socket attachments placed after three months of healing period after fixture insertion in molar region. Patients were divided into two groups: group I (partial over-denture constructed from thermoplastic denture base). Group II (partial over-denture constructed from cobalt-chromium alloy denture base). Bone height and density were assessed around implants and abutments by Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) at time of insertion and after six, nine and twelve months. Results: there was significant differences in bone loss around implant in both groups but more bone loss around abutment in group I than group II, bone density is higher in group I than group II around implant and abutment. Conclusions: cobalt chromium denture base revealed less bone loss than thermoplastic implant-supported removable partial over denture. | ||
