Abstract | ||||
Background: Hemodialysis is a vital management option for end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. With adequate hemodialysis, patients can have a good quality of life but many complications can occur during the session, which can be minor to life-threatening. Aim of the work to detect the frequency of intradialytic complications in ESRD patients on regular hemodialysis in Minia university hospital. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done on 43 patients aged ≥ 18 years old, 22 male and 21 females, with chronic kidney disease CKD having intra-dialysis complication. Results: According to intradialytic complication, hypertension was the most common one (32.6%), followed by muscle spasm (23.3%), then hypotension (20.9%) and fits (16.3%), while hypoglycemia and cardiac complication (eg: myocardial infarction) was the least complications (2.3% and 4.7% respectively). Conclusions: Intradialytic complications are common among ESRD patients on regular hemodialysis. Hypertension and muscle cramps are the most frequently encountered complications. Improved intradialytic monitoring and individualized treatment strategies are necessary to enhance patient outcomes. | ||||
