Abstract | ||||
A fast, cheap, and straightforward spectrophotometric method has been proposed to determine ondansetron hydrochloride in its pure form and pharmaceutical formulation. The technique involves diazotizing the (NH₂) group in 4-aminophenol with NaNO₂ followed by a reaction with ondansetron hydrochloride to produce a stable and colored complex in a basic medium of NaOH. This complex demonstrates maximum absorbance at 452 nm. Important analytical parameters, such as a molar absorptivity of 1.5599×104 L mol-1 cm-1, Sandell's index of 0.02114 μg cm-2, and a detection limit of 0.1921 μg ml-1, were carefully evaluated. Over the concentration range of 2.0 –18 μg mL-1, the calibration curve is linear. The method developed underwent rigorous validation and was subsequently used in the estimation of OND in drug preparations. This investigation clearly elucidates that the applied spectrophotometric technique is both highly efficient and remarkably precise, rendering it especially apt for routine and reliable analysis of Ondansetron hydrochloride within the broader context of pharmaceutical quality control processes | ||||
