Abstract | ||||
Selection of 4th instar larvae of the Egyptian cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) with the insect growth inhibitors chlorfluazuron {1-[3, 5, dichloro - 4 -(3 - chloro - 5 - trifluo - romethyl -2 - pyridyloxy) phenyl] - 3 - (2, 6, difluorobenzoyl) urea] and triflumuron - (1 - (4 - trifluoromethoxy phenyl) - 3 - (2 - chlorobenzoyl) urea] for only one generation has resulted in more susceptible larvae in the subsequent generation to the action of certain insecticides. This was based on the low levels of tolerance ratios and LC50's obtained. The effect was more pronounced in chlorfuzuron treatment as compared with triflumuron treatment. Similarly, treatment of the 4th instar larvae with insecticide-insect growth inhibitors combinations (Katapron and tamaron combi) for only ore generation also enhanced the susceptibility of larvae in the subsequent generation to the action of some of the tested insecticides. | ||||
