Abstract | ||||
This meta-analysis synthesizes findings from over 60 empirical and theoretical studies examining the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into journalistic practices worldwide. Focusing on research conducted between 2020 and 2025, the analysis explores how AI is reshaping newsroom operations, journalistic roles, and ethical frameworks across different national contexts. A core focus of the study is to highlight and compare the varying degrees of AI adoption in journalism across countries, shedding light on both common trends and distinctive challenges shaped by regional, technological, cultural, and economic factors. The analysis reveals widespread interest in the efficiency and automation AI offers, while also identifying disparities in infrastructure, training, and ethical readiness across news organizations. By mapping these national differences and documenting current practices, concerns, and progress, this meta-analysis aims to provide a grounded and comprehensive understanding of the present landscape of AI in journalism, offering a valuable snapshot of where the global media industry stands today. | ||||
