| Abstract | ||||
| Background: Parasitic infestations are diseases caused by organisms that depend on another living thing and distributed virtually throughout the world, with high prevalence rates in the rural area because of poor housing conditions, poor personal hygiene and unsanitary environmental conditions. Aim: This study aimed to assess family awareness regarding prevention of parasitic infestation in rural area. Research design: A descriptive analytical design was used in this study. Sample: Purposive sample of 278 studied families were participated. Research settings: The study was conducted at (Maternal & Child health center and family health center) in Ashmoun center in El Monofeya Government. Tool (1): Structured interviewing questionnaire. Part 1: Socio-demographic characteristics of family had parasitic infestation. Part 2: Current medical history of family had parasitic infestation. Part 3: Knowledge of family about prevention of parasitic infestation. Tool (2): Family reported practices about prevention of parasitic infestation. Results: There was only (6. 9%) of studied families had good knowledge regarding parasitic infection while (18. 3%) had average knowledge and (74. 8%) had poor knowledge and there was (65.9%) of studied families follow unhealthy reported practices and the rest of the studied families (34.1%) follow healthy practices.. Conclusion: There was statistically significance relation between total knowledge level and total reported practices level among studied families. Recommendation: conducting health education programs in Maternal & Child health center and family health center for the family member about the mode of transmission of parasites and methods of prevention. | ||||
