| Abstract | ||||
| Background:Ever since the minimally invasive techniques have evolved for surgical procedures, this approach has been used routinely and has also paved way for development of newer minimally invasive techniques.Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery(NOTES)is one of them and uses natural orifices of the human body,such as the mouth,the anus,and the vaginal or the urethra as channels of endoscopy reported the first published transvaginal endoscopic cholecystectomy. Aim and objectives:to compare transvaginal natural orifce transluminal endoscopic surgery (V-NOTES)adnexectoy for benign pathology to laparoscopic excision. Subjects and methods:This prospective observational study conducted at Minia University Hospital. 20 women participants were divided into two groups;Laparoscopic excision group included 10 patients diagnosed and V-NOTES group included 10 patients diagnosed. Result: There was statistically significant decrease in Laparoscopic excision group when compared to V-NOTES group regarding surgery duration. There was no statistically significant difference between studied groups regarding hospital stays and infection, while there was statistically significant difference in pain scores and bleeding, with the V-NOTES group reporting significantly less pain postoperatively and a higher incidence of less bleeding postoperatively. Conclusion:The findings of the current study suggested that there were no significant differences between the studied groups in terms of age,gravidity,parity, BMI, and medical history. Notably, surgery duration was significantly shorter in the V-NOTES group compared to the laparoscopic excision group. Postoperative outcomes also showed significant differences, with the V-NOTES group reporting less postoperative pain and a higher incidence of less bleeding, while no significant differences were observed in hospital stays or infection rates between the groups. | ||||
