Abstract | ||||
Background: A sufficiently defect in the endo-abdominal fascia results in an inguinal hernia, permitting intraperitoneal contents to exit into the groin. Aim: Comparing safety, feasibility, and post-operative complications, including infections, pain, and numbness, in one year, for TAPP and TEP approaches. Patients and methods: 50 inguinal hernia patients were treated at Aswan University Hospital's general surgery department in this prospective comparative study. 25 patients in Group A underwent laparoscopic TAPP hernia repair, whereas 25 individuals in Group B had TEP hernia repairs performed laparoscopically. Results: Compared to TAPP group, the TEP group had greater instances of increased operative time, peritoneal rents, post operative pain, and seroma formation. In the absence of any statistically significant disparities between groups treated with TEP and TAPP concerning surgical emphysema, scrotal edema, hematoma and Hydrocele, delayed bowel movement, surgical site infection at 0-7 days and 6 months, mesh infection, neuropathy, and recurrence. Conclusion: According to our findings, TAPP led to less peritoneal rents, shorter operative times, fewer seromas, and lower levels of pain (VAS scores) at 6 hours, 24 hours, 7th day, and 3 months, compared to TEP. | ||||
