Abstract
This study examines the economic impact of the flotation of the Egyptian pound on Egyptian agricultural trade from (2001-2022).. Utilizing an inductive approach, the research combines descriptive and quantitative analyses, relying on secondary data from credible sources such as the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and the Central Bank of Egypt. The research problem lies in the devaluation of the Egyptian pound, which has had an impact on the increasing deficit in the agricultural trade balance .The findings reveal a positive relationship between the exchange rate and agricultural export volumes, consistent with economic theory. However, agricultural imports, particularly essential commodities like wheat and maize, exhibit inelasticity to exchange rate changes due to their critical role in ensuring food security. The study identifies a persistent trade deficit in agricultural products, exacerbated by the flotation policy. Recommendations include reducing the gap between domestic production and consumption of staple crops, increasing agricultural investments, and adopting non-price policies to enhance export competitiveness. This research contributes to understanding the implications of exchange rate policies on agricultural trade and supports Egypt's pursuit of Sustainable Development goals.
