Abstract | ||||
Today, we are witnessing a technological and information revolution that encompasses all aspects of our daily lives, reaching all fields of science and research and their environments. The translation process and its studies, which focus on exploring the knowledge of others, do not seem immune to this technological renaissance. Although these technologies, primarily artificial intelligence and machine translation, can play a significant role in accelerating the translation process and enhancing its practices, in addition to achieving better results in human communication, they remain unable to convey many contexts of the source language and ensure understanding of its intent, especially the contents and concepts related to cultural and ideological aspects that may agree with, or differ from, the target language. Hence, the role of the human translator comes in, choosing the most appropriate procedures and techniques to reproduce these translations in a way that ensures their contents and concepts are correctly conveyed to the target language recipient. As a result of the linguistic and cognitive problems and obstacles that arise from the machine translation of Persian texts, which naturally affect the intent and content of these texts, the study, through its adoption of a descriptive and analytical approach, sought to: To determine the success of the two websites, Google Translate ( ) and Reverso Context ( ), in reproducing these texts and their consistency with the authors' intentions. Linguistic problems and obstacles are explored and classified in terms of phonetic, morphological, syntactic, and lexical equivalences, as well as semantic and conceptual ones; particularly those phrases and sentences that appear correct at the lexical and grammatical levels, but are inconsistent with the internal and external context of the source text. Ultimately, solutions are found that achieve the study's objectives and answer its questions. At the end of these procedures, the study anticipates that translation from Persian into Arabic with the help of technological systems and engines still faces problems and shortcomings at the linguistic and cognitive levels. The intervention of a human translator, equipped with the knowledge necessary to conduct a thorough review, is an unavoidable necessity if we are to reproduce texts that achieve a sound cultural and intellectual exchange between the source language and the target language recipient. | ||||
