Abstract | ||||
Complements are an important part of linguistic studies and cannot be dispensed with, even though in their grammatical classification they are not included among the basic components of a grammatically complete sentence. However, it has an important position in semantics on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is no less important than other basic elements in the sentence from a structural point of view, as these elements are complementary to the structure. This research seeks to study the function of the verbal complement in the Turkish verbal sentence, by identifying its elements and determining the relationships between these elements. The research dealt with the structural theory of Christian Turati, and showed the method of analysis into direct compositions and the stages of its development, and determined the basic concepts of the method of analysis into direct compositions, as it explained the verbal compound and its types, and the function of the verbal complement in the verbal sentence. The research data required combining the functional approach that determines the relationships that link the elements of the sentence to each other, and the function that each element occupies in the structure of the Turkish sentence, and the descriptive analytical approach, which is concerned with presenting the concepts and issues of the Turkish language in functional linguistics. Description and analysis were two procedural tools that I benefited from in both the theoretical and practical aspects. The research takes the novel The Silent House (Sessiz Ev) by the Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk as a model for application. At the end of the research comes the conclusion and includes the most important results. Followed by a list of sources and references. | ||||
