Abstract | ||||
This study investigates the semantic and syntactic aspects of rhetorical simile particles in German and Arabic from a contrastive analytical perspective, with a focus on the challenges faced by learners of German as a foreign language (DaF) in accurately and effectively using these linguistic elements. Additionally, the research examines the stylistic dimensions of simile particles in both languages, emphasizing their role in enhancing rhetorical impact and linguistic expressiveness. The study employs an analytical approach that compares key German simile particles, such as wie and als, with their Arabic counterparts, such as كـ and مثل, in terms of their syntactic structure and semantic function. It also explores how these particles integrate into sentence structures and contribute to meaning construction across different contexts. Furthermore, the research highlights structural and semantic differences between the two languages, identifying specific difficulties that arise when Arabic-speaking learners acquire and use German simile particles. Moreover, the study examines common syntactic and semantic errors made by Arabic-speaking learners of German when using simile particles, often due to linguistic interference between the two languages. The analysis of these errors is supported by practical examples that illustrate the linguistic challenges involved. Additionally, the study proposes pedagogical strategies based on contrastive analysis to improve the acquisition and accurate application of simile particles. The significance of this research lies in its comprehensive examination of simile particles from syntactic, semantic, and stylistic perspectives, contributing to a better understanding of the linguistic difficulties faced by DaF learners. The findings also offer valuable insights for developing more effective teaching and learning strategies, ultimately enhancing learners' linguistic proficiency and their ability to express themselves with greater precision in German | ||||
