| Abstract | ||||
| Food security is a critical issue for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan due to the continuous population growth and the decline in agricultural areas. The study aimed to identify the equations of the trends in the area planted with wheat and barley in Jordan between 2015 and 2024 in light of population growth, and to determine the changes in the production, consumption, and imports of wheat and barley in Jordan. To achieve its objectives, the study relied on the descriptive approach and the Pearson correlation coefficient, and its data were collected from the Internet and official statistical reports. The study reached some of the most important results, the most important of which are: There is a statistical increase in the population by 252.091 million people during the period 2015-2024. There was also a statistical increase of 394.85 and 1590.0 thousand feddans of wheat and barley, respectively, during the period 2015-2024. This shows that the independent variable is the main reason for the low decline in Jordan's production of these crops, and this population increase is matched by a decline in wheat and barley production in Jordan. The general trend equations for wheat and barley production in Jordan are declining and declining during the studied period (2015-2024) in light of the population increase. The highest production of wheat and barley crops in Jordan during the study period was in 2015, reaching about 48 thousand tons, while the lowest production in 2024 reached 35 thousand tons. The same applies to the barley crop, which peaked in 2015 at 47,000 tons, then declined in the following years to 34,000 tons. This is due to climate change, low | ||||
