| تتناول رواية "الغطرسة" لمايكل إيزيكوف وديفيد كورن غزو إدارة بوش للعراق، وتكشف عن تورط وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية، ونفوذها الأكاديمي، وسوء تصرفات الصحفيين. وتكشف الرواية عن المؤامرة، والعجز البيروقراطي، وسوء تصرفات الصحفيين، وهو ما أشادت به صحيفتا واشنطن بوست ونيويورك تايمز. وتتناول رواية "الغطرسة" غزو إدارة بوش للعراق في عام 2003، مع التركيز على النظرة الإيجابية للبيت الأبيض للتهديد الذي يشكله صدام حسين والحرب السهلة. وتتناول الرواية أسلحة الدمار الشامل التي تمتلكها الولايات المتحدة، ومزاعم تنظيم القاعدة في العراق، وقصة جوزيف ويلسون وزوجته فاليري بليم. وتفشل الرواية في تغطية دوافع اللاعبين الرئيسيين في الإدارة.
