Abstract | ||||
This study investigates the electrochemical behavior of nano copper sulfate (CuSO4) in aqueous solutions, focusing on its interactions with the pharmaceutical compounds ’ibuprofen and ceftazidime. Nano CuSO4 was synthesized via ball milling, and its nanoscale structure was characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was employed to analyze the electrochemical properties of nano CuSO₄ in 0.1 M potassium chloride (KCl) and 0.1 M trisodium citrate solutions. The presence of trisodium citrate served as a stabilizing agent to prevent coagulation of nano-CuSO₄ particles. The CV results revealed distinct solvation parameters for the interactions of nano CuSO₄ with ibuprofen in KCl and with ceftazidime in trisodium citrate. Stability constants and Gibbs free energy values were determined, providing insights into the thermodynamic stability of these complexes. These findings highlight the significant influence of the electrolyte medium on the electrochemical interactions of nano CuSO₄, with potential implications for drug stability, delivery systems, and pharmaceutical formulation. Understanding these interactions contributes to pharmaceutical research by offering insights into drug stability, binding mechanisms, and potential nano-based drug delivery applications. Additionally, the study has environmental implications, as it enhances knowledge of nanomaterial-drug interactions, which is essential for assessing the fate and transformation of pharmaceutical compounds in aqueous systems. | ||||
