Abstract | ||||
Despite the important role that agricultural cooperatives play in the development of the agricultural sector, these cooperative associations suffer from numerous problems that have affected their role in the agricultural development process in Egypt. The study problem was centered on the question: Do agricultural cooperative associations have a clear role in developing the agricultural sector in Menoufia Governorate and in achieving contemporary changes in Egyptian agriculture? The study concluded that the number of multi-purpose associations reached 299 associations representing about 99%, while the number of specialized associations reached 3 associations representing about 1% of the total number of associations in the governorate, which amounts to 302 associations. Local multi-purpose agricultural cooperative associations in the agricultural credit areas of Menoufia Governorate practice their activity through 284 headquarters, of which 234 headquarters are suitable representing about 82%, and 50 headquarters are unsuitable representing about 18% of the total headquarters. Regarding the ownership of these headquarters, it was observed that 132 headquarters representing about 47% are owned by cooperatives, 50 headquarters representing about 18% are rented, 102 headquarters representing about 35% are government-owned, in addition to 6 headquarters owned by the government that are still with village banks until 2024. The total value of agricultural production inputs investments in agricultural cooperative associations in Menoufia Governorate reached about 412 million pounds for 2024, of which 399.6 million pounds is the value of fertilizers at a rate of about 96.9%, 10.9 million pounds is the value of seeds at a rate of about 2.6%, 1.3 million pounds is the value of pesticides at a rate of about 0.32% of the total value of agricultural production inputs investments for Menoufia for 2024. | ||||
