Abstract | ||||
Background: NOTES is a minimally invasive procedure that uses the natural orifices of the human body to access the abdominal cavity Utilizing natural orifices to reach internal organs via the transgastric transurethral transanal and transvaginal routes spares the abdominal wall from incisions. Aim of study:This study aimed to learn more about Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery NOTES for the management of benign gynecological disorders and study about its advantages such as reduce pain decrease incidence of umbilical port hernias and seated surgeon. Subjects and methods:This prospective interventional study conducted at the obstetrics and gynecology department of Minia University Hospital in Egypt. Result: most common indication for surgery was hysterectomy,which was present in 40% of patients. Adnexal Mass was the second most common surgical indication,with 3patients (30%) undergoing surgery for this condition, Ectopic pregnancy was present in 2 patients (20%), while the least common surgical indication was uterine fibroid, with 1 patient (10%) requiring surgery. The median of hospital stay was 2.00 days, with a range from 1.00 to 2.00 days and the median of pain score was 1.5 and ranged from 1.00 to 3.00. Mild infection was present in 10% of patients. Conclusion: our study revealed that the patients were relatively young, and had a normal body mass index (BMI). The cohort had a diverse medical history, with asthma, hypertension, and diabetes affecting a minority of the patients. Hysterectomy was the most common surgical procedure, followed by adnexal mass and ectopic pregnancy, with uterine fibroid being the least frequent indication. | ||||
