Abstract | ||||
The research aimed to determine the respondents’ awareness of the risks of using agricultural pesticides in Qena Governorate, to identify the cognitive and implementation level of safe pesticide use practices, and to identify the problems facing the respondents in dealing with agricultural pesticides from their point of view. This research was conducted on a random sample of 152 respondents. The research data were collected through personal interviews using a questionnaire. Frequencies, percentages, weighted arithmetic mean, and simple correlation coefficient were used to display and analyze the data. The most important results were as follows: 65.1% of the respondents had an average level of awareness of the studied risks of using pesticides, while 20.4% of the respondents had a high level of awareness of the studied risks of using pesticides, while 14.5% of the respondents had a low level of awareness of the studied risks of using pesticides, and 57.9% of the respondents had an average level of knowledge of safe pesticide use practices, while 26.3% of the respondents had a high level of knowledge of these practices, while 15.8% of the respondents had a low level of knowledge of safe pesticide use practices, 61.2% of the respondents had an average level of application of safe pesticide use practices, 19.7% of the respondents had a low level of application of these practices, while 19.1% of the respondents had a high level of application. The most important problems that the respondents faced in dealing with pesticides from their point of view were: the presence of pesticides of unknown origin without usage labels, the weak knowledge of agricultural extension workers in the field of pesticides, and the presence of adulterated, unsuitable, and ineffective pesticides. | ||||
