Abstract | ||||
Background: For patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, endoscopic sinus surgery is the recommended therapeutic option. The preoperative preparation of patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery has a significant impact on their overall outcomes and experiences. Goals: Assess how patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery are affected in terms of their knowledge and quality of life by preoperative preparation. Pretest/posttest research design: This study employed a quasi-experimental approach. Study location: The Otolaryngology department of Mansoura University Hospital was used for the study. Participants: Two equal groups of sixty-four patients with endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis, with or without nasal polyps, were selected for the study. The Sinonasal Outcomes Test-22, a self-rating anxiety scale, and a structured interviewing questionnaire are among the instruments used to collect data. Findings: 6.2% of participants in the study demonstrated exceptionalFurthermore, following the implementation of the preoperative preparation. Conclusion: Preoperative education increased knowledge, decreased anxiety, and improved the severity of symptoms and health-related quality of life. For patients, 9.4% of the study group had normal levels of anxiety before the intervention, which improved to 62.5% during the post-intervention period and 93.7% during the follow-up period after endoscopic sinus surgery. Suggestion: As part of its health education program, the Mansoura University Hospital's otolaryngology department should give patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery informational booklets. | ||||
