Abstract | ||
This study examines the dual role of digital financial inclusion (DFI) in fostering economic development and advancing environmental sustainability in Egypt. A quantitative descriptive research design was employed, with data collected via a structured questionnaire administered to 193 respondents across diverse demographics. The findings reveal that mobile wallets are the most widely used digital financial tool (55%), especially among younger, urban users, reflecting a demographic tilt toward digital solutions. Despite promising levels of digital confidence (61%), critical barriers persist, including concerns about data privacy (35%), limited digital literacy (26%), and infrastructural constraints (20%). Socio-economic impacts of DFI are reflected in improved saving habits (39%), enhanced household budgeting (14%), and increased entrepreneurial activities (14%). Additionally, a strong interest in green finance was observed, with 74% of respondents expressing willingness to adopt environmentally sustainable financial products. These results suggest that integrating DFI with environmental finance initiatives could reinforce Egypt’s national strategies for inclusive development and climate resilience. The study offers policy insights relevant to Egypt’s Vision 2030 and contributes to the global literature on the intersection of digital finance and sustainable development.
