| Abstract | ||
| Background: Health disparities associated with e-cigarette use are increasingly apparent. Perceptions of e-cigarette harm and addiction play an important role in understanding employees’ e-cigarette use behavior. Aim of the study: This study aimed to assess perception of Benha University employees regarding electronic cigarette smoking. Research design: A descriptive research design was used for this study. Setting: The study was conducted at 50% of academic structures faculties in Benha University. Subjects: Simple random sample of employee selected from previously mentioned setting which included 263 employees. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used in this study; Tool 1: Structured interviewing questionnaire that included 3 parts concerned with socio-demographic characteristics of Benha University employees, smoking history of employees and employees’ knowledge regarding electronic cigarette smoking and Tool 2: Concerned with employees' attitude regarding electronic cigarette smoking. Result: 59.3% of studied employees were males and 61.2% had university education or more, 58, 9% of studied employees weren't smoker, 47.9% of them started smoking before 10 years, 6.1 of studied employees used electronic cigarette, 52.1% of them had poor total knowledge regarding electronic cigarette smoking, and 88.2% of them had negative total attitude level regarding electronic cigarette smoking. Conclusion: There were highly statistically significant relations between the studied employees' socio-demographic characteristic, and their total knowledge regarding educational level and job, and there was highly statistically significant positive correlation between total knowledge and total attitude among studied employees. Recommendations: Disseminating boosters and booklet about the risk of electronic cigarette smoking. | ||
